Mr. Maxfield is the Information Manager for the Center for Infrastructure Expertise Library. Mr. Maxfield is responsible for locating and maintaining Library content, including identifying sources for best practices, regulations, conferences and education programs, and news relating to critical infrastructure protection and relevant homeland security issues.

Mr. Maxfield has over 20 years of experience in library and information systems and services. Most recently, he developed a digital library project for the University of New Hampshire, determining design and data standards, and managing project workflow. Prior to that, he was a taxonomist and classification specialist for NorthernLight.com, an Internet search engine and content provider based in Cambridge, MA. At Northern Light, Mr. Maxfield analyzed web content and helped develop standards and methodologies for automatic classification to a taxonomy of over 17,000 subject terms which he helped develop and maintain.

Mr. Maxfield was a business and technical information specialist for Digital Equipment Corp. for 13 years. Originally a reference librarian at Digital's Corporate headquarters in Maynard, MA, he later managed a corporate branch library supporting engineering research and related engineering management issues. In his last position at Digital, he managed a sales proposal database, editing content and assuring database quality and reliability.

Mr. Maxfield has also consulted on indexing and classification projects, developing subject taxonomies and database standards in a number of areas, including Arts and Humanities, Government and Social Sciences, and Science and Technology.

Mr. Maxfield received a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of New Hampshire. He holds a Masters of Library and Information Science from Simmons College, Boston, MA.
