Seeded by federal funding, the National Infrastructure Institute (NI2) Center for Infrastructure Expertise, with its partners and technical advisors, developed the SMART School Tool^® as an easy-to-use management tool that will help administrators improve the safety, security and health of their schools through a multi-hazards risk assessment approach. The tool evaluates risks and recommends how to address them through procedures, performance recommendations, and cost-effective technologies to ensure life, safety, protection of property, and continuity of operations.
