The Center is the U.S. co-founder of the International Symposium on Tunnel Safety & Security. The symposium provides a forum for researchers, tunnel operators, regulatory officials, law enforcement, fire and emergency services, and private sector technology experts to exchange ideas and develop solutions that will improve the safety and security of tunnels throughout the world. Prior symposia have been held in Washington, DC and Madrid, Spain; the 2008 event will be in Göteborg, Sweden.

The first International Tunnel Safety & Security Symposium was held in Washington, DC on November 16-17, 2004.

2008 Tunnel Symposium Call for Papers

The 3d International Symposium on Tunnel Safety & Security is scheduled to be held in Goteborg, Sweden in March 2008. A program has been announced from the symposium's web site.  Send inquiries to istss2008@sp.se
